The Flying Pig is next the next race on my schedule. It is in Cincinnati the day after Derby. I am running it with my brother, by that I mean, my brother will be finishing about an hour ahead of me. It looks like it is similar to KDF in that it is very crowded for the Half and Full, but thins out after the break. I have no knowledge of the course except that it is hilly. Everyone I have talked to that has run it speaks very very highly of it.
My parents are coming to watch the race. Because of all the weather this winter, I wasn’t able to get my quick trip in to Roanoke. This is the weekend of the Blue Ridge Marathon. I wish I could have made it in to see it or more truthfully run it. They changed the course this year and added a 10K option. The main components of the original course are still there. It is a difficult run, but it is an awesome run. I feel a stronger sense of accomplishment having finished that, than I did finishing KDF. KDF is a good marathon, great course, and excellently organized. It just isn’t the BRM. I guess it is like the first time you knew you were in love with the girl that would be your wife. It is a wash of clarity as you realize this is her. That’s what the BRM is to me. It’s MY marathon.
